Staff-to-Child Ratios

 

In Center-Based Care the staff-to-child ratios are

1:5 for 6 weeks to 36 months*; 1:7 for 24 to 36 months; 1:8 for 2.5- to 3-year-olds; 1:10 for 3- and 4-year-olds

*Infant nurseries care for children 6 weeks to 18 months; toddler nurseries care for children 12 months (when walking independently) to 36 months.

In Family Child Care the staff-to-child ratios are

1:4 (with no more than 2 children under 12 months) OR 2:6 (with no more than 3 children under 12 months).

These ratios apply only to infant/toddler homes, which are defined as a type of family child care home providing care only to children birth to three.
